EXAMPLE USE CASES

  • It’s 6 a.m. at a construction site. The site foreman is out sick, but he has the keys to the gates for the job site. Normally, that means waiting hours for a locksmith, or cutting the lock open—lost time or lost money.

With DVL, the fix takes seconds: the sick foreman opens the app, selects the appropriate Gate lock, and directly shares the appropriate unlock code to a trusted co-worker’s phone. The gate is open, work starts on time, and there’s no risk of a lost key floating around the jobsite.

  • A transportation company currently pays a security guard on the weekends just to open and close their freight yard for weekend load pick-up and drop-off. A new driver gets assigned a load to be picked up on a Saturday.

With DVL, dispatch enters the driver’s phone into the system and sets it to only be able to open our G.O.A.T. gate access system for that Saturday. When he arrives, he scans the QR code on the gate call box, and after the system verifies his authorization via his phone number, the gate opens.

Once he leaves the yard again, his time-bounded access is revoked automatically and the facility remains secured; without having to pay a guard.

  • A storm has knocked out power. A utility crew arrives at a secured utility point, but doesn’t have the physical keys.

The supervisor, miles away, simply authorizes that crew for that location to have access to those locks or gate inside the DVL app. On their phones, the crew sees the codes they need, right when they need them. They scan the QR code at the gate or unlock the locks they need, get through the gate, and restore power quickly.

When the shift ends, the supervisor removes their access, and those codes disappear from their devices.

  • A property manager oversees dozens of rental properties. A maintenance contractor needs access to a restricted access area, but the manager is across town.

Instead of driving over, the manager simply shares the unit’s lock code through DVL. The contractor gets in, resolves the issue at hand, and the manager revokes access as soon as the job is complete. No lost keys, no rekeying between vendors.

For added security, the manager can swap a different QR coded lock if he thinks there is a chance that contractor might not be trustworthy and if the contractor tried to come back, the code will no longer work because the lock has been swapped.

  • A school has multiple padlocked equipment sheds for sports and facilities teams. Normally, students and staff all share the same codes written on sticky notes, creating a security mess.

With DVL, the athletic director can assign codes digitally to staff and students who need them. Each team only sees the locks they’re authorized for, and when the season ends, access disappears automatically. No need to rekey or change combinations.
